You can admit to it, our corrections system is a giant waste of money and people. Prison means everyone loses.
One of the huge government fiscal policies is that pertaining to funding our jails and prisons at the local, county, parish, state and federal levels. As Clint points out in The Fix; America has the world's largest prison system and our prison system is a complete failure. The current construct is one where if someone is arrested for a crime, we have to pay for putting that person in jail.
That is absolutely crazy and Corrections Plus program provides both a sustainable finance system to pay for all future outlays owing to the operation of our system of jails and prisons, but also provides a new construct that shifts the responsibility for these costs to the prisoners themselves. Once the prisoner has paid all the costs associated with the crime (and Clint means all of them), then the prisoner may be eligible for payroll. The sooner they get paid to a current state, the sooner they can go home and be secure in the knowledge that they have real job skills that are valued by the real job market that will have an insatiable appetite for new employment opportunities that can now be met.
Finally, a new system of corrections where people who commit crimes have a chance to redeem themselves. Obviously, this wouldn't include murders, rapists and armed robbers, but that leaves the door pretty wide for those who seek an alternative to a life of crime in an economic society where crime is no longer necessary to feed the family.
